Wallace Pratt papers 1907-1985

A native of Phillipsburg, Kansas, Wallace Pratt (1885-1981) was a University of Kansas graduate who began his career in geology with the Kansas Geological Survey. Pratt went on to become a renowned petroleum geologist. This collection of his papers includes maps, photographic materials, and papers relating to geology and the American oil industry. Wallace E. Pratt was born March 15, 1885, in Phillipsburg, Kansas. Pratt received four degrees from the University of Kansas (1908 [2], 1909, 1914) and was names a distinguished Service Citee in 1945. The Erasmus Haworth Distinguished Alumni Award was given to him in 1950. Pratt, the first geologist ever employed by Humble Oil, was considered by many to be one of world's foremost exploration geologists.
